New Abu Dhabi Organisation to Support Children in Foster Care
The Department of Community Development said the body will help build a community-driven foster care ecosystem with training, workshops and awareness for families.
The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi has granted a licence to the Foster Families Association as a public benefit organisation, enabling it to operate as a community-driven entity that promotes family fostering and supports children in care in growing up in safe, stable, and nurturing environments. The association is expected to help develop an integrated foster care ecosystem by working closely with government entities and specialised organisations in psychological, social, and educational fields. According to the department, the move falls within its mandate to regulate and oversee public benefit organisations in the emirate. It added that empowering specialised entities within a strong regulatory framework helps enhance the quality of social services while supporting family stability and broader social cohesion across Abu Dhabi. Over the long term, the association plans to roll out specialised training programmes, workshops, and awareness initiatives outlining the rights, duties, and responsibilities of foster families. The department will also share success stories from family fostering to build public trust and encourage wider community participation.
