New Factory to Produce 250,000 Bladder Cancer Treatment Doses Annually

Egyptian pharmaceutical company Vacsera is set to establish a new factory to produce PCG injections, which are used in treatment of bladder cancer.

When completed, the facility will produce a quarter of a million doses annually, vastly increasing the current domestic production that tops out at 36,000 annual doses. Owing to the low costs associated with domestic production, the injections will then be administered to patients free of charge.

The current demand for the PCG injections stands at 55,000 injections per year, with many of those doses needing to be imported to provide adequate care for patients receiving treatment for bladder cancer. The new facility will produce a surplus of the injections, and with approval from the World Health Organization, that surplus will be permitted for foreign export.
