New National Initiative Empowers Women Through Lifelong Education

Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the UNESCO Cairo office are currently collaborating to develop a national Lifelong Learning Strategy, which hopes to provide learning opportunities for marginalised populations.

Egypt is the first of five pilot countries for the Global Education Coalition and Global Alliance for Literacy (GEC-GAL) initiative, focusing on leveraging technology in literacy instruction and learning.

As part of their commitment to gender equality and sustainable development, UNESCO Cairo unveiled a new initiative titled ‘Women, Family & Community’ (WFC). This comprehensive teaching and learning package, developed in partnership with the Adult Education Authority and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, aims to empower Egyptian women by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge.

The WFC project seeks to address the specific needs and realities of disadvantaged women, promoting their empowerment and positively impacting their families and communities.

Recognising literacy and numeracy as driving forces for sustainable development, both entities are striving to offer improved work opportunities, environmental care, and an enhanced quality of life for individuals through literacy initiatives.
