Nour El Sherbini Becomes Third-Longest Reigning Top Rank Squash Player
El Sherbini has now been ranked as World Number One for 1,768 consecutive days.
Egyptian squash champion Nour El Sherbini has entered the prestigious top three in the all-time ranking of players who have spent the most consecutive days as world Number One, having now racked up 1,768 days at the top of global ranking tables at time of writing. El Sherbini’s step up to a podium position comes as she surpassed Australian player Michelle Martin with her record of 1,767 days as Number One.
The Egyptian star is now coming up on five consecutive years on top, but she’s got a way to go before she unseats the two players remaining above her in the ranking. In second place is New Zealand’s Susan Devoy, with 3,195 days; and at the top stands Malaysian Nicol David, who held onto her spot as world number one for 3,408 consecutive days. That being said, both Devoy and David are now retired, leaving El Sherbini a (relatively) open run at the true top spot.
