Paul Pogba Joins Saudi Camel Racing Team Al Haboob as Investor

French Footballer Paul Pogba has become an ambassador and shareholder of Al Haboob, a Saudi professional camel racing team that competes across the Gulf, taking a role as both investor and public representative.

Founded in Saudi Arabia by Omar Almaeena and Safwan Modir, Al Haboob describes itself as the world’s first professional camel racing team and races across the region. The team says its long-term plan is to establish a professional Camel Racing League while integrating heritage practices with elite performance. The sport now uses robot jockeys equipped with GPS tracking, heart-rate monitoring and two-way communication to enhance safety and performance.

Al Haboob’s founders previously launched RedSea Camel Company in 2021 and co-created the Netflix series 'Camel Quest', which showcased camel culture in Saudi Arabia and followed efforts to compete in major festivals. Almaeena said Pogba’s involvement aligns with the team’s aim to share the sport’s heritage with wider audiences.

Their ambition to elevate camel racing onto a global stage is something I truly connect with. I want to be part of a project that goes beyond sport, one that brings people together and shines a light on traditions that deserve to be celebrated.” Pogba is a French World Cup winner and a Monaco midfielder who has previously represented Juventus and Manchester United.
