President El-Sisi Approves New Social Protection Package

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk announced a new social protection package approved by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which includes a range of financial benefits. The package features a 25% increase in Takaful and Karama pensions by April, an EGP 110 increase in the Subsidy Card limit, and an additional EGP 250 for cards serving more than one person.

It also includes a EGP 1,500 grant for informal workers and an allocation of EGP 10 billion to support prioritised families, those with two children, and vulnerable groups until the end of June. In addition, EGP 85 billion will be allocated for salary increases in the new fiscal year, with the minimum wage for state employees set to rise to EGP 7,000 starting in July.

Furthermore, there will be a 15% raise in pensions, and the incentive for teachers and faculty members will also be increased starting in July. Minister Kouchouk further announced that the minimum salary increment for any employee will be adjusted to EGP 1,200, with some positions seeing increments of up to EGP 1,600.
