Renowned Director Yousry Nasrallah to Be Honoured at 45th CIFF
The Golden Pyramid award will be presented to Nasrallah in acknowledgment of his contributions to the film industry.
The 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), scheduled to take place from November 15th to the 24th, will honour Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah with the Golden Pyramid honorary award for lifetime achievement in the film industry.
Nasrallah began his career as a cinema critic and later worked as a director’s assistant for iconic filmmaker Youssif Chahine on notable projects such as 'Wada'an Bonaparte' (‘Farewell Bonaparte’) and 'Hadoutta Masriyah' (‘An Egyptian Tale’). His early experiences also include collaborations with international directors like Volker Schlöndorff. His acclaimed work 'Bab al-Shams', released in 2004, stands out as one of his most recognised films. His latest film, 'Geneinat al-Asmak', was released in 2008.
Throughout his career, Nasrallah has provided a distinct perspective on Egyptian society, using his films to explore and reflect the cultural and psychological elements that define the nation. His body of work is characterised by a deep understanding of social issues and the complexities of life in Egypt.
