Residency Renewal Fees Tripled for Foreign Nationals
The new increases cover permanent and temporary residence permits for purposes including tourism, education and work.
The cost of renewing residence permits for foreign nationals living in Egypt has more than tripled, following a government decision implemented on September 21st, from USD 50 to around USD 150.
The new increases, which do not apply to refugees and asylum seekers from Sudan and Palestine, were posted by the Passports and Immigration General Administration in Abbasiya, and cover permanent and temporary residence permits for purposes including tourism, education and work.
The residency fees must be paid through the conversion of USD or its equivalent in foreign currency into Egyptian pounds at an approved bank or foreign exchange company. This decision was first made in August 2023 by the office of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to boost foreign currency reserves.
