Reusing Razors Banned in Push to Improve Sanitation Standards in Saudi
The move is part of a new set of health regulations set to take effect in 180 days.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has implemented stricter sanitation standards for barber shops across Saudi Arabia, including a ban on the reuse of shaving razors, as part of a new set of health regulations set to take effect in 180 days.
The updated guidelines include additional requirements for worker conduct, prohibiting barbers from touching their nose or mouth during services and mandating that they refrain from working if they exhibit any signs of illness. Eating and drinking are now banned within salon premises to maintain hygiene, and only cosmetics and products approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority are allowed. Salons are also required to provide sterilization devices to ensure all tools are sanitized after each use.
The regulatory changes designed to enhance public health and safety, are part of a broader effort to modernize Saudi Arabia's men’s grooming sector to make it more attractive for investment.
