Sandstorms & Dust Levels Drop by 53% in Saudi in 2025
The improvement in dust and sandstorm levels may be a result of different environmental projects, according to the Regional Center for Dust and Sandstorms.

The Regional Center for Dust and Sandstorms reports a 53% reduction in dust and sandstorm activity in Saudi Arabia between January and July 2025, compared to the historical average for that period.
Monthly drops varied widely, reaching 80% in January, dipping to about 40% in February and May, rising again to roughly 75% in March, then settling around 41% in April and July, with about 59% in June.
The improvement in dust and sandstorm levels may be a result of different environmental projects, such as the Saudi Green Initiative, cloud seeding programs and vegetation expansion projects, amongst others, according to the Regional Center for Dust and Sandstorms.
The centre also attributes natural causes behind the shift such as changes in air patterns that enhanced air quality and decreased sources of dust.
