Saudi Arabia has secured third place globally in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) AI Policy Observatory, right behind the United States and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), announced the achievement at the Internet Governance Forum in Riyadh, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment to ethical AI. He highlighted the AI Ethics Early Adopters initiative and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), established under UNESCO’s sponsorship, as key drivers of trust and ethical standards.
The Kingdom continues to launch several high-impact AI initiatives, including the International Telecommunication Union AI Readiness Framework, developed in collaboration with ITU, a strengthened AI Policy Observatory, developed in partnership with OECD, and the Riyadh Charter on Artificial Intelligence for the Islamic World, developed with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
