Saudi Arabia Signs Deal to Launch Air-Taxi Services Across the Kingdom
Unveiled at CoMotion Global in Riyadh, the agreement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s advanced air mobility roadmap and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with US-based Archer Aviation to operate vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) air-taxi services in Saudi Arabia. The announcement was made during the CoMotion Global Summit at the Riyadh Financial Center.
The agreement sets the foundation for a broader Advanced Air Mobility system under Saudi Arabia’s transport and logistics strategy. As part of the deal, Archer and GACA will begin pilot flights and proof-of-concept demonstrations, while regulators develop a VTOL-specific regulatory framework aligned with international safety standards.
The collaboration signals an effort to create a new method of urban mobility for Saudi cities — offering a potential solution to congestion, connecting remote areas, and shaping a new era of sustainable, high-speed transport across the Kingdom.
