Saudi Non-Profit Sector Shows Huge Growth in First Half of 2024

Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Non-Profit Sector has reported significant growth in the non-profit sector in the primary half of 2024, during which 46 new civil associations, five civil institutions and 10 family funds were registered across various fields.

The total number of registered non-profit organisations in the Kingdom now stands at 4,942, and the number of volunteers has reached 105,000 individuals.

The National Centre for Non-Profit Sector praised the efforts of stakeholders in the sector during the 1445 AH Hajj season in particular, which facilitated the pilgrimage of nearly two million Muslims. A collaboration between the National Centre and the Siqaya and Rifadah committees, which oversee non-profit activities related to water and food distribution, led to the approval of over 70 non-profit organisations to provide food and water to pilgrims.

The National Centre for Non-Profit Sector also regulated the activities of non-profit organisations by issuing warnings, dissolving boards of directors, appointing temporary boards, revoking licences and issuing violations for improper fundraising practices.

Last month, the National Centre referred 11 social media influencers to the relevant authorities for promoting donations to non-profit organisations without proper disclosure and violating the advertorial requirements of social media platforms.
