Residents of Saudi Arabia’s southern Sharurah governorate have received SAR 2,000 in compensation for a recent power outage during a sweeping heatwave.
The outage, which occurred on July 12th, also affected Saudi Arabia’s Najran region. Residents have received text messages from the Saudi Electricity Company confirming the disbursement of the compensation amount in the bank accounts of affected residents.
New rules on electricity outages during the summer heatwaves stipulate that the Saudi Electricity Company will be obliged to compensate residents with SAR 200 for power outages lasting longer than six hours, with an additional SAR 50 for every extra hour thereafter.
