Saudi-Yemeni Companies to Boost Energy, Communications & Trade
These projects were discussed during a recent Saudi-Yemeni Business Council meeting in Makkah.
Saudi and Yemeni companies are set to collaborate on a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering economic ties, with investments totaling approximately SAR 470 million. These projects, discussed during a recent Saudi-Yemeni Business Council meeting in Makkah, include ventures in energy, communications and trade, as well as plans to enhance border infrastructure.
Three new companies will be established in Saudi Arabia under the Kingdom's investment system. Among them is a solar energy company with a capital of USD 100 million (SAR 375 million), currently undergoing foundational, technical, and marketing studies. It is planned as a closed joint-stock company.
Another venture, a communications company with a capital of SAR 10 million, will focus on satellite-based operations, reflecting the growing reliance on advanced technologies in regional connectivity.
The third company will specialise in organizing international exhibitions, promoting cross-border engagement.
In addition to these business ventures, a new quarantine facility will be constructed on the Saudi side of the border at an estimated cost of SAR 80 million. This facility is intended to replace the current quarantine system in Djibouti, streamlining the movement of goods and livestock and ensuring more efficient border management.
A proposal for cooperative smart cities at the Al-Wadiah and Al-Alab border crossings has also been put forward, further emphasising innovation in infrastructure development. These smart cities aim to integrate advanced technologies to enhance trade and logistics, contributing to the broader economic partnership between the two nations.
