Sohag University Hospital Opens Critical Care Unit for Children
Sohag University Hospital is opening a pediatric intensive care unit on Wednesday December 23rd.
To help provide better medical services for the children of Sohag and the entirety of Upper Egypt, Sohag University Hospital is opening a pediatric intensive care unit on Wednesday December 23rd. The unit is expected to treat critical and non-critical (outpatient care) medical issues affecting children between 28 days and 12 years old. The unit was built through a donation by Egypt’s Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development, and costs about EGP 11 million.
According to Dr. Hassan Al Nu’mani, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Sohag University, the unit is made up of 14 beds, two intensive and intermediate care units with ventilators, a neuropsychiatric unit, a cardiology unit and a pediatric endoscopy unit. The unit will treat various diseases including, but not limited to, nervous spasms, acute pulmonary infections and kidney failure, and is expected to play an important role in enhancing medical resources in Sohag and its surrounding governorates.
