Transportation Authority to Install Glass Barriers on Metro Line 4
The new glass barriers will open automatically as the train arrives, and then close automatically upon departure.
The National Transportation Authority has confirmed that an automatic glass barrier will be installed on the platforms of all Metro Line Four stations in Cairo.
The barrier will be the first of its kind in Egyptian metro history, and will protect passengers from falling onto the rails. It will open automatically as the train arrives, and then close automatically upon departure.
The glass barrier is scheduled for installation in 2027. During the first phase of installation, 81% of stations - from Al-Shajar neighbourhood to Fustat - on Metro Line Four will be updated. Another phase will see installation on Metro Line Six, between Al-Khosos and Maadi, after the completion of Metro Line Four.
