Tuk Tuks May Soon Be Replaced With Safer Alternatives

Egypt’s officials are coming together to take tuk tuks off the streets, and replace them with something a lot safer to drive with. Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea put together a meeting to come up with the specifications of the replacement vehicles, aiming for something that’s small and secure.

Months ago, the Ministry of Trade and Industry halted the import of basic production components of the tuk tuks, paving the way for the new generation.

The current focus will be on alternative energy modules, whether they’re locally made or sourced from abroad.

The new vehicles must be environmentally friendly, easy to drive and abide by the security dimensions to fit within the Egyptian traffic licensing system as well as be safe for passengers.

The Ministry of Public Business Sector is currently working on a deal with an international vehicle production company to manufacture an electrically powered tuk tuk alternative. This electric will be cleaner, safer, and easily tracked to ensure the safety of its passengers.
