UAE Higher Education Sees Record Enrollment With Over 57,000 Students
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research attributed the rise to streamlined admissions and a unified digital registration system, with women accounting for 54% of 57,035 entrants.
Universities across the United Arab Emirates admitted 57,035 new students for the 2024–2025 academic year, marking a 13% year-on-year increase and the highest intake in a decade, according to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). Of the new enrolments, 30,756 were female students, representing 54% of the total and reflecting a 10% rise compared to the previous year. Male student admissions reached 26,281, up 18% from 2023–24. MoHESR said the surge is driven by improvements to the education-admissions system, including the rollout of the Unified Registration System (URS), streamlined digital services and wider flexibility for higher education institutions (HEIs) to design academic programmes aligned with national labour-market needs.
