UAE Launches Reading Ambassadors Initiative to Promote Literacy
Announced at the close of National Reading Month, the ambassadors will encourage reading across all age groups.

The Ministry of Culture has launched the Reading Ambassadors Initiative in partnership with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and the Federal Youth Authority, aiming to foster a sustainable reading culture nationwide. The announcement coincided with the end of National Reading Month 2025 and aligns with the country’s broader efforts to promote Arabic language, identity, and cultural heritage.
The initiative will appoint a group of “Reading Ambassadors” across four categories: writers and pioneers, youth, volunteers, and children. These ambassadors are tasked with developing and implementing literacy-focused projects and programmes across the UAE’s network of libraries and cultural centres affiliated with the Ministry of Culture.
The launch also coincides with Emirati Children’s Day 2025, observed under the theme ‘The Right to Identity and National Culture’, reinforcing the initiative’s focus on encouraging young Emiratis to embrace the Arabic language and national values through reading.
