UAE Secures Seat on UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs
The UAE has been elected to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for the 2026–2029 term, representing the Asia-Pacific Group.

The United Arab Emirates has secured a seat on the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for the 2026–2029 term, representing the Asia-Pacific Group.
The CND, established in 1946, serves as the central policy-making body within the UN system for drug-related matters. It plays a role in supervising the application of international drug control treaties and formulating policies to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
The UAE has implemented comprehensive strategies focusing on prevention, treatment, and law enforcement to tackle drug abuse and trafficking. Additionally, the UAE has been an active participant in regional and global initiatives aimed at promoting public health and safety concerning narcotics.
