UAE Team Comes Out on Top at 2024 Culinary Olympics in Germany
The team’s achievements include 69 medals and one diploma, acknowledging their performances in various competitions.
The Emirates Culinary Guild proudly fielded a team of 27 chefs from across the United Arab Emirates to participate in the Culinary Olympics 2024 held in Germany. The team brought home an impressive haul of 69 medals and one diploma in recognition of their outstanding performances across various competitions, including three Gold medals with distinction, 39 Gold medals and 27 Silver medals, marking the highest tally among all competing teams this year.
Comprising 20 artists and pastry chefs from various hotels and establishments around the United Arab Emirates, the team engaged in fierce competition against more than 45 international culinary teams from Singapore, Sweden, Norway, South Korea, Taiwan and other top contenders.
“The team has made us proud as a country and Culinary association for showing the quality the Emirates can do,” Guild President Andy Cuthbert, who also serves as the General Manager of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel and Madinat Conference Centre, tells SceneNowUAE.
Under the guidance of Emirates Culinary Guild Past President Chef Uwe Micheel, the team secured three Gold medals with distinction by earning the maximum of 100 points each. The chefs who earned these special medals were Chef Thilina Pradeep Kallamullage Fernando, Chef Pathma Madushanka Kuma Hennedige, and Chef Kameel Rasyid Eril.
