UN Security Council Resolution Calls for Gaza Ceasefire During Ramadan
The resolution also calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
The United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas during Ramadan. This resolution also calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. The United States abstained, refraining from vetoing the measure, marking a departure from its previous stance, with three previous veto votes.
Since the beginning of the escalated genocide on October 7th, the Security Council has repeatedly failed to reach a consensus on a ceasefire. The remaining 14 members voted for the resolution today, March 25th.
