USD 184 Million Allocated to Support Farmers & Their Livestock

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has allocated approximately USD 184 million to support farmers and their livestock.

The initiative, titled ‘The National Veal Project’, is designed to help over 44,000 farmers, facilitating the breeding of over half a million cattle – ranging from beef calves to high yield heifers – to ensure a consistent supply of meat and dairy products.

As part of the initiative, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk recently approved around USD 5.9 million to support 428 small scale farmers. The project’s funding will enable the acquisition of nearly 4,300 head of cattle as part of the Haya Karima initiative, which aims to improve rural living standards around the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation said they are collaborating with local agriculture and veterinary facilities to provide support and care to address any challenges faced by farmers and their livestock.
