Ultra-Rare Rolex Sells for USD 4.72 Million at Dubai Auction
The sale beat the model’s previous record by more than USD 1.2 million and ranks ninth among the most expensive Rolex watches ever sold.
A vintage Rolex Reference 4113 sold for USD 4.72 million at a Dubai auction, marking one of the most significant results for the brand at auction and setting a new record for the model. The sale was handled by FutureGrail, a luxury watch auction house, which noted that the hammer price exceeded the prior model record by more than USD 1.2 million. The Reference 4113 was produced in the 1940s, with only twelve units made and nine examples confirmed to survive. It remains the only vintage Rolex with a split-seconds chronograph mechanism and has a history of association with motor racing figures. According to FutureGrail, the sale underscores growing global collector interest in ultra-rare time-pieces, particularly in the Middle East. The record result came in tandem with the company’s plans to establish a UAE base in 2026 to serve regional demand.
