Umrah Pilgrimage Taken by Up to 6.2 Million People in Q3 2024
This growth includes a significant 42.4% increase in domestic pilgrims, reaching 2,906,239 people.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed a 35% surge in Umrah pilgrims during the third quarter of 2024, with a total of 6,254,751 pilgrims, as reported by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
This growth includes a 42.4% increase in domestic pilgrims, reaching 2,906,239, and a 29.2% rise in foreign pilgrims, totaling 3,348,512.
Male pilgrims constituted 57.4% of the total, while females accounted for 42.6%. Among domestic pilgrims, Saudi nationals represented 23.1%, and the largest age group was 30 to 39 years old at 29.2%.
Foreign pilgrims were predominantly aged 35 to 44, comprising 17.6%. Most foreign visitors arrived on Umrah visas (60.8%), with others using different visa categories such as electronic visit visas (6.6%) and Gulf visas (2.9%).
August stood out as the peak month for domestic single-time Umrah performers, accounting for 40.1% of the total.
