Upper Egypt's Bashtil Train Station Will Open This October
At 57 feddans, Bashtil Train Station is a little over four times as large as Ramses Train Station in Cairo.
Construction on Bashtil Train Station in Upper Egypt has just been completed, with the station’s inauguration scheduled for October 2023.
The EGP 350 million station features five tracks and platforms, as well as a complex of workshops for railcar and train engine maintenance. The station will have a daily capacity of 250,000 passengers, and is expected to generate 3,500 direct and indirect job opportunities. At 57 feddans, Bashtil Train Station is a little over four times as large as Ramses Train Station in Cairo, which stands at 13 feddans.
Bashtil Train Station will offer a range of services, including underground parking, a multistory car park and a shopping mall. This project was conceived to ease the burden on Ramses Train Station and serve the transportation needs of citizens traveling to and from Upper Egyptian governorates.
