The tunacado may have started a movement, but the city’s versions are pure originality.

Where to Find Every Version of the Tunacado – A SceneEats Guide

The tunacado, which is basically tuna, avocado, mayo, lemon in a panini bread, began as a quiet Scandi-style combo before becoming the internet’s favourite meal. One viral sandwich and several million videos later, Cairo caught the wave and ran with it. Now, it’s less a recipe and more an identity: the sandwich that says you journal, you hydrate, and you have opinions about olive oil.

Every café has their own version now. Some stay loyal to the formula, others push it into entirely new territory. Some come on bagels, some on toast, some wrapped up for the gym crowd — but all carry the same energy: calm on the outside, chaotic on the inside. Here’s our unofficial guide to the variants of the now-iconic tunacado that have taken over Cairo.

Fati’s

The bagel twist. Fati’s keeps the spirit but swaps the bread for a soft, chewy bagel that soaks up all the lemony tuna goodness. It’s still light, just with a little more bite.

Cult

The pink one. Cult’s tunacado doesn’t whisper “healthy,” it screams “aesthetic.” The beet-dyed tuna makes it as photogenic as it is rich and creamy, like someone filtered your lunch in real life.

Koffee Kulture

The spicy one. Koffee Kulture adds a little heat and swaps the Scandi calm for Cairo confidence. It’s the tunacado that talks back — sharp, bold, and slightly addictive.

Paul

The pesto one. Leave it to Paul to make the trend taste like an upgrade. The pesto adds a smooth, herby layer that makes the tuna feel expensive and the avocado look like it knows fine dining.

Brown Nose

The toast version. It’s the minimalist’s favorite tunacado version— crisp bread, creamy spread, and just enough structure to make you sit up straighter while eating it.

Saints

The clean one. Saints stays close to the original formula — sharp lemon, smooth avocado, perfectly even layers. It’s neat, efficient, and tastes like self-control.

Foufa’s

The extra one. Tall, layered, and unapologetically dramatic, Foufa’s tunacado looks like it was styled for a campaign shoot. You’ll need both hands, a napkin, and a little bit of self-respect to finish it.

Lazy Lads

District 5, New Cairo
The chaotic one. It’s heavy on the tuna, packed with attitude, and definitely not here to be balanced. It’s the kind of sandwich that tastes like it has a story behind it.

Lychee

The wrap. Lychee took the tunacado and made it portable — a lighter, cleaner version that fits neatly into the Cairo wellness aesthetic. It’s the gym-goer’s answer to temptation.
