Eight Summer Activities for Kids in Cairo

Summer is well underway, and some parents are probably running out of ideas to occupy their kids by now. Not to worry, we’ve compiled a list of fresh ways to keep your children and teens entertained while you take a break or run your errands, and let them learn to have fun without you…

KidZania

KidZania Cairo is Egypt's ‘First City by KidZ for KidZ, where your children can discover adult life’. One of 28 theme parks worldwide established by edutainment brand KidZania, the New Cairo branch is one of the first Egyptian parks to offer immersive, career-oriented fun. There are a range of workshops to choose from based on the age of your child (between four and 12 years old) and their interests, and the options vary from season to season.

This summer, KidZania is offering Cairo kids workshops in robotics, upcycling, acting, photography, entrepreneurship, sports and ‘nutty scientist’ activities until September, but will offer alternatives in the spring and winter breaks too. You can book each workshop individually, so you can customise a summer programme for your child. By working like adults at KidZania, children earn a salary in KidZos, which they can then use to pay for goods and services at camp.

Clubliko

According to them, Clubliko is the ultimate edu-fun family destination, where your little ones can have fun while developing new skills in a safe environment. For parents who feel anxious about leaving their children at camp all day, Clubliko offers a dedicated space for mums and dads to eat, work and socialise, so Clubliko is as much for you as for your kids.

Clubliko runs Splash Summer Camps for children aged two to seven, with water activities, arts and crafts, cooking, puppet shows, dancing and games, as well as Big Camps for slightly older children.

A special summer promo-liko details a summer hourly system where the first hour is EGP 200, and each consecutive hour is at a discounted price. A drop off service is also available for kids who can eat and use the toilet without help, so parents can have a little leisure time.

Sane

A space for alternative education, Sane offers themed activities which simultaneously occupy and educate kids. With multiple locations across Egypt - in Cairo, El Gouna, Hacienda Bay, Sidi Haneish, Almaza and Jefeira - Sane can provide entertainment for your children, wherever you land for the summer.

Their most recent workshop in Cairo was entitled ‘Me & My Feelings’ and was aimed at children aged four to 10, helping them learn to listen to their bodies and handle their emotions.

An upcoming Sane event in El Gouna, a ‘Kites & Crafts Day’, is offering an introduction to kite-surfing for children, supervised surfing sessions, a DIY kite-making workshop, as well as bucket hat decorating to entertain attendees all afternoon.

Keep an eye on their Instagram, @SaneEgypt, for events and workshops, as there is always something on the horizon.

Snapology

Snapology is an American franchise, offering a new learning concept which combines play with action. As their slogan says, kids will be there to ‘Learn Through Play’. Consider Snapology like a STEM-focussed summer camp, making STEM subjects come alive for all your budding mathematicians, engineers, coders and scientists.

Their workshops offer hand-on activities designed to develop problem-solving skills, spark creativity and deepen understanding, turning education into a summery adventure. With something for every age between two and 16, parents can book a three-hour workshop or two for any child with an interest in science.

Club 5

Based on five principal social and emotional learning pillars, Club 5 is designed specifically for the social development of your child in mind.

Their camp programme has been created in reference to the Florida University Summer Treatment Programme, specialising in teaching children how to read their feelings, process their thoughts, and then express them through positive action, all while they play.

The Cheerful Chums Summer Camp is running until August 22nd, for kids aged three to nine. The focus of Cheerful Chums is nurturing gratitude and appreciation, but in an active way. Clubmania consists of short energetic group activities to improve the children’s moods, followed by Mess Express, which is free time for creativity, sensory play, and arts and crafts, and Brain Breaks include dancing and music to unite the body and mind.

Dolphina Park

Treat your kids to the magical mermaid moment they’ve always dreamed of with Dolphina Park in 6th October City. The first branch of Dolphina Park was established in 2001 in Sharm El Sheikh, but with a location in Cairo, they are bringing the magic of the Red Sea to the big city.

At 6pm, there is a Daily Dolphin Show, and an extra 9 PM show on weekends, and children under the age of three go free. You can book a slot during the day to visit the dolphins, swim and play with them, and have professional dolphin trainers supervise your child, while teaching them all about the wonders of marine life.

They might be lucky enough to spot some seals, too, or even get a dolphin kiss!

Rizkallah Art Foundation

Founded by artist Adly Rizkallah, Rizkallah Art Foundation is a summer school for art and music. They offer classes in various locations all over Cairo, and aim to support and enhance creativity in children, teach them how to draw rather than copy, help them develop fine motor skills, increase their concentration and attention spans, boost their self-esteem, and establish creative coping mechanisms for stress or anxiety.

The Rizkallah Summer Camp is running in collaboration with Platinum Sports Academies this year, offering football, swimming and tennis, in addition to the arts, in order to help kids build team-working skills and develop healthy exercise habits.

The camp is aimed at children aged between three and 16, with specialised classes for different age gaps, and is running until October.

WellSpring

Some of your older children and teens might have outgrown the workshops you’ve sent them to every summer, but they still need entertainment.

Founded on the idea of ‘living from the inside out’, WellSpring runs youth programs for children above the age of 13, including Leadership Programmes and Youth Development Programmes to help them better understand themselves, their values, and their strengths in order to fulfil their potential.

WellSpring also offers camps abroad, for those parents who feel ready to let their children explore the world outside of Egypt, with a community of like-minded teenagers learning to be independent and build connections. Their most recent trips abroad include France and Switzerland, but the next trips could be to anywhere in the US, South Africa or Europe.
