First-Ever Red Sea Marathon Will Blaze Across Jeddah in January 2025
The Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation plans to make the marathon an annual event, offering big prizes for winning athletes.
The Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation (SAAF) is collaborating with Sports Hub to host the first edition of the Red Sea Marathon, which will take place in Jeddah on January 18th, 2025.The federation anticipates that 10,000 local and international runners will take part in the event, which will include the full marathon (42.2km), a half marathon, a 10km race for those aged 17 and above, and a 4km race for beginners and children.“We are excited to play a part in bringing such an iconic event to Jeddah,” President of SAAF Habib bin Ali Al-Rabaan tells SceneNowSaudi. “Our partnership with the Sports Hub is built on a shared commitment to elevating the health and well-being of individuals and embodies our dedication to supporting the communities in which we operate.”The SAAF plans to make the Red Sea Marathon an annual spectacle, offering substantial prizes for top professional runners. Beyond drawing elite athletes from around the globe, the marathon is hoped to elevate Jeddah's reputation as a premier sporting destination while giving a significant boost to the local tourism industry.
