Hiba Al Qwaidi is First Female Referee at Saudi Women’s Premier League
Al Qwaidi officiated Al Qadsiah’s 1-0 win against Al Riyadh at Al Khobar stadium.
Hiba Al Qwaidi has made history by becoming the first female Saudi referee to take charge of a Saudi Women’s Premier League match, officiating Al Qadsiah’s 1-0 win against Al Riyadh on Friday. Al Qwaidi was recently accredited by FIFA, and the match at Al Khobar stadium marked her first official match as referee, assisted by Abdullah Al Madad and Khaled Al Anezi as assistant referees.
Al Qwaidi first appeared as an official in the Riyadh Season Cup as a fourth official, where Saudi’s Al Hilal beat Inter Miami 4-3 at Kingdom Arena. She is amongst 22 officially accredited Saudi referees now taking on the mantle of match arbiter in Saudi football matches.
