Platinumlist Launches Fan-to-Fan Resale to Curb Ticket Scalping
The feature is now accessible to fans in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
Platinumlist, a leading ticketing platform in the Middle East, has announced Safe Tickets, a resale feature aimed at mitigating ticket scalping and excessive price inflation on secondary markets. The feature is now accessible to fans in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
The initiative addresses rampant price markups often seen in the resale market. For instance, tickets for Coldplay’s India concert were reportedly listed for as much as USD 11,000. Efforts to curb such practices are also underway for Coldplay's upcoming show in Abu Dhabi, with Safe Tickets offering a more controlled and equitable platform for resales.
According to Platinumlist data, 70% of resold tickets through Safe Tickets are listed at face value, with an average resale price increase of 45% - a stark contrast to the 300% markups common in secondary markets. Over three months of testing, user engagement with the feature surged by 600%.
The system is designed to ensure affordability, accessibility and security. It allows ticket holders to list resales conveniently through a user-friendly interface, where prices and options can be modified as needed. To combat fraud, the feature incorporates QR codes that refresh continuously, guaranteeing ticket validity.
