Safe Egypt Introduces New Holistic Program ‘I Am Safe Online’
Comprising courses, workshops, books, board games and more, the program utilises all means necessary to keep kids safe online.
Today, introducing your children to the internet at an early age has no longer become a personal parenting choice, but a necessity in their lives and yours. Whether your child is a toddler exploring the world of YouTube or a tween who’s eager to connect with peers online, children’s excitement to peruse the vast world of online content is uncontainable, and perhaps should be encouraged - given that they do so safely.
Safe Egypt, a community organisation dedicated to promoting the safety of youth in all aspects possible, noted a gap in digital safety in Egypt. Sara Aziz, the founder of Safe Egypt, tells us that, “Through our interventions and the invaluable feedback we receive from parents, teachers, and caregivers during our training sessions - whether in corporations, schools or clubs - we have identified a significant challenge in online safety.”
To define and encourage online safety for children, Safe Egypt is launching a new comprehensive program where both kids and adults can explore the digital world safety. “Safe Egypt was founded with the vision of creating a society where hope prevails and everyone feels safe and valued,” Aziz tells CairoScene. “'I am Safe Online' is a natural extension of this vision, offering a powerful tool that not only raises awareness about digital risks but also equips participants with the skills and awareness to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.”
By targeting both youth and the community that surrounds them, including family and educators, the ‘I Am Safe Online’ program aims to create a space where online safety can be scaffolded holistically. The program contains interactive edutainment books and board games that children and teens can engage in with their parents, as well as online courses and offline workshops that maintain the impact of this philosophy of safety.
“Parents often lack the proper information, children and youth are not adequately aware, and women may not fully understand their rights in the digital space,” Aziz continues. “This is why the ‘I Am Safe Online’ program is so essential; it’s a holistic, 360-degree program designed to raise awareness among children, youth, parents, grandparents, and caregivers.”
The ‘I Am Safe Online’ board game will soon be available for preorder on Safe Egypt’s website. The courses can also be found by the end of December.
