100 Fast EV Chargers to Be Deployed Across Sharjah
A new partnership will deploy fast EV chargers across Sharjah, with ION responsible for development, operation and maintenance.
More than 100 fast electric vehicle charging stations are set to be deployed across Sharjah under a new partnership aimed at expanding the emirate’s electric mobility infrastructure. The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) signed an agreement with ION to roll out the charging network across Sharjah city as well as central and eastern regions, targeting wider coverage for EV users.
ION, a joint venture between Beeah and Crescent Enterprises, will be responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the charging stations. The rollout follows the company’s approval as the first authorised operator of electric vehicle charging points in the emirate.
SRTA Chairman Yousif Khamis Al Othmani said the project is intended to support the growing number of electric vehicle users while contributing to efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Implementation will be carried out in coordination with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority to ensure compliance with technical standards and delivery timelines.
As part of the deployment, ION will introduce a mobile application allowing users to locate charging stations, monitor charging sessions in real time and complete payments through a single platform.
