30% Electricity Discount Approved for Eligible Coded Meter Users
Eligible coded meter users will receive a 30% discount on electricity consumption charges for six months while regularising building violations.
Egypt’s Cabinet has approved a 30% discount on electricity consumption charges for six months for citizens using coded electricity meters installed before 2024 who have not yet settled building violations.
The measure is intended to give eligible users more time to regularise their legal status. The state will cover the value of the discount, with the total cost estimated at around EGP 3 billion.
The decision implements recommendations from Egypt Forum 2026 and was approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on October 28th.
