Egypt Targets 1,000 Applied Technology Schools by 2030
The government plans to add 200 to 250 applied technology schools each year through partnerships with private companies.
Egypt’s Cabinet has set a target to expand the number of applied technology schools to 1,000 by 2030, up from 225 currently, by adding between 200 and 250 new schools each year through partnerships with the private sector.
The plan was discussed during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on expanding technical education, with participation from the ministers of education and finance, the head of the Production Efficiency Authority and other officials.
Under the proposed model, industrial and service-sector companies would help develop curricula and applied programmes aligned with their workforce needs. Students would receive regular practical training inside company facilities throughout their studies, with participating firms also expected to offer employment opportunities to graduates.
Madbouly directed the relevant ministries to study a package of sustainable incentives to attract more companies into the programme. Proposals being prepared for Cabinet review could include tax incentives alongside other support measures.
