Egypt’s Cabinet has approved the issuance of two non-circulating commemorative coins to mark one year since the Grand Egyptian Museum opened.
The decision covers a 1-pound gold coin and a 25-pound silver coin, both intended specifically as commemorative pieces rather than currency for everyday circulation.
The approval was granted during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on October 28th. It takes the form of a draft decision authorising the minting of the two denominations in their specified metals.
