AI Grocery Deal Finder Planned for UAE Price Comparison Platform
Officials are expanding the Essential Goods Prices Platform as part of wider efforts to improve price transparency.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism is preparing to introduce an AI-powered chatbot to the UAE’s Essential Goods Prices Platform to help residents compare grocery prices and identify lower-cost shopping options. The planned upgrade will analyse purchasing habits and shopping patterns to recommend the most cost-effective retail outlets, following consumer feedback regarding pricing differences between stores.
The platform already allows users to create customised shopping baskets and compare average grocery prices across emirates before making purchases. Officials said the system’s pricing accuracy is monitored through daily inspections carried out by more than 35 field inspectors across the UAE, verifying that shelf prices match those listed online.
The platform is connected electronically with participating retailers and updates prices on a daily basis through the ministry’s website.
Originally launched with 33 products across 12 retailers, the system now tracks more than 38 commodities, including eight core essential goods alongside additional items added through field inspections.
