AI Systems Monitor Driver Behaviour to Improve Road Safety in UAE
Artificial intelligence is being used to track driving patterns and identify high-risk accident locations.
Artificial intelligence systems are being deployed across the UAE to monitor driver behaviour and identify accident-prone locations, as part of broader efforts to improve road safety. The Ministry of Interior said the systems analyse how drivers behave on the road and feed data into platforms that map high-risk areas. The approach is designed to support targeted interventions based on real-time behavioural insights.
Officials said drivers involved in both major and minor incidents are tracked and enrolled in structured programmes tailored to their behaviour patterns. AI tools are also used to assess individual risk levels, with the aim of introducing targeted initiatives to address unsafe driving practices.
The update was presented during a session of the Federal National Council focused on road safety. While the UAE ranks among the top countries globally for road quality, authorities said traffic injuries and fatalities remain linked largely to driver conduct.
Council members highlighted the need for a broader approach to safety that extends beyond infrastructure, including early traffic education and community engagement across schools, families and media platforms. They also pointed to the role of behavioural analysis in shaping more effective policies.
