M42 Introduces AI Tool for Prostate Cancer Diagnosis in UAE
The technology will support pathologists at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in reviewing tissue samples.
M42, an Abu Dhabi-based health technology company, has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered tool for prostate cancer diagnostics through its National Reference Laboratory in collaboration with digital pathology company Qritive.
The technology is being integrated into the laboratory's diagnostic workflow at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where it will assist pathologists in reviewing tissue samples and support clinical decision-making.
According to M42, the system analyses digital pathology slides, identifies potentially suspicious areas and provides structured insights to help specialists detect cancer and assess its severity. Final diagnoses and treatment decisions will continue to be made by medical professionals.
The platform is designed to identify cancerous tissue, evaluate tumour patterns and support grading according to internationally recognised standards. It can also measure tumour burden and flag areas requiring closer examination. Officials said the technology is intended to improve diagnostic efficiency and consistency, particularly in prostate cancer cases where treatment decisions depend heavily on accurate grading.
According to estimates cited by the company, prostate cancer represents a growing health challenge across the Middle East, with approximately 50,000 new cases diagnosed annually. The deployment forms part of the National Reference Laboratory's broader strategy to expand the use of digital pathology and artificial intelligence across its oncology services.
