Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation has launched the Dubai Archive in collaboration with five government entities to document and preserve Dubai’s institutional records, historical materials, and cultural heritage through integrated digital archiving systems.
According to the Foundation, the initiative is designed to safeguard archival materials within a unified digital framework intended to support long-term preservation and future access.
As part of the pilot phase, cooperation agreements were signed with Dubai Municipality, Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Dubai Digital Authority, and Dubai Government Human Resources Department.
The agreements establish participation from the respective entities during the archive’s initial rollout and align their archival contributions under a shared digital system.
According to the Foundation, the Dubai Archive focuses on documenting institutional records alongside historical and cultural materials through a standardised digital-first format across participating government bodies.
