Egypt to Launch Region’s First Master’s Degree in Sports Management
The programme will be done through the British University in Egypt and the International University Sports Federation.
The first master's programme in sports management in Africa and the Arab world is set to launch following a new agreement between Egypt's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the International University Sports Federation.
Signed at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the protocol establishes the British University in Egypt as the academic partner for the International University Sports Federation's Master's Programme in Sports Management.
The partnership makes the British University in Egypt the first institution in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa to join the federation's international programme.
According to the agreement, the International University Sports Federation will oversee the programme, which is designed to prepare specialised leaders for sports organisations, institutions and major sporting events.
The curriculum will cover areas including sports governance, sports marketing, event and venue management, digital transformation, technology and sustainability.
In addition to academic coursework, students will have access to practical training opportunities and international exchange programmes provided through the federation's global network.
The signing ceremony was attended by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa, British University in Egypt President Mohamed Lotfy and International University Sports Federation President Leonz Eder, alongside officials from the education and sports sectors.
Discussions during the meeting also addressed potential cooperation related to Egypt's bid to host the 2031 Summer World University Games, which would mark the first time the event is held in Africa.
