El-Sisi Says Saudi Military Support Will Not Include Attacks on Yemen
President El-Sisi said any Egyptian military role would be limited to defending Saudi territory and would not involve attacks on Yemen.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said any Egyptian military role in support of Saudi Arabia would be limited to defending the kingdom’s territory and borders and would not include attacks on Yemen. He made the remarks during the ‘Security of the Nation and Citizen’ session at Egypt Forum 2026 on October 21st.
President El-Sisi said the same principle would apply to any other Arab country that requests Egyptian support. He added that Egyptian military action would not extend beyond Egypt’s borders or those of a partner Arab state whose security and stability Egypt is supporting.
His comments follow an earlier call for the House of Representatives to authorise the Armed Forces to support Saudi Arabia if requested, with the proposed role described as defensive rather than offensive.
President El-Sisi also said Egypt views the security and stability of Gulf states as part of shared Arab national security, while stressing the need to restore stability across the region.
