Gulf Medical University Ranks #1 Globally for International Outlook
The Ajman university scored 99.4 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, the highest among 2,297 institutions.
Gulf Medical University in Ajman has ranked first worldwide for International Outlook in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, scoring 99.4 — the highest result among 2,297 universities across 118 countries and territories.
The ranking marks GMU’s first appearance in the Times Higher Education table, where it entered the 1001–1200 band overall. It is also the only specialised medical and health sciences university in the UAE included in the 2027 edition. GMU said its student body represents more than 115 nationalities, while faculty come from 56 countries.
International Outlook is one of five pillars used by Times Higher Education and measures factors including the proportion of international students and staff, as well as the share of research produced with international co-authors. GMU’s score placed it first globally and first in the UAE on that measure.
GMU is the flagship academic institution of Thumbay Group and offers programmes across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, biomedical sciences and healthcare management. Clinical training is delivered through Thumbay’s network of academic hospitals, while the university also maintains international research partnerships.
