January 7th Declared Zayed the Founder Day in UAE
The new annual occasion will honour Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan through year-round cultural and community initiatives.
The UAE will observe January 7th as Zayed the Founder Day starting next year, introducing a new annual national occasion dedicated to the life, legacy and values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The occasion will extend beyond a single day, with activities planned throughout the year across education, culture, research, content, community participation and public engagement. Programmes will be designed to include people of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds.
The timing at the beginning of the year is intended to give schools, workplaces and institutions an annual point to revisit the values associated with Sheikh Zayed as a new year begins.
Zayed the Founder Day is an initiative of The Founder’s Office, which leads programmes related to preserving and expanding public understanding of Sheikh Zayed’s life and legacy. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also welcomed the declaration, saying the occasion should help keep those values present in the lives of younger generations.
