King Salman Airport Awards USD 213 Million Terminal 6 Contract
The contract covers enabling and substructure works for a terminal designed to handle 40 million passengers annually.
King Salman International Airport Development Company, the developer overseeing King Salman International Airport and backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has awarded a USD 213 million (SAR 800 million) contract for enabling and substructure works on Terminal 6.
The contract was awarded to a joint venture between China Civil Engineering Construction, the Chinese infrastructure contractor, and Mofarreh AlHarbi & Partners, the Saudi construction company. Once completed, Terminal 6 is expected to increase the airport's capacity by 40 million passengers annually.
The award follows a series of procurement milestones for the terminal. In March, the developer selected three consortia to undertake the terminal's main construction works. Earlier this month, it also received prequalification submissions for two additional packages covering a permanent east-west corridor and landside access roads serving the airport's northern and southern terminals.
The latest contract forms part of the wider development of King Salman International Airport, with Terminal 6 expected to become operational ahead of Expo 2030 Riyadh.
