Mayar Sherif Returns to the WTA Top 50 for the First Time Since 2025

Egypt's Mayar Sherif has returned to the WTA Top 50 for the first time since April 2025, capping off the best stretch of form in her career with a remarkable run that included a second WTA 125 title and 13 consecutive victories.

Sherif climbed five places to No. 50 in the latest WTA rankings after reaching the semifinals of the Hamburg Open. Her winning streak came to an end when she was forced to retire through injury during her semifinal against Germany's Tamara Korpatsch.

The 29-year-old has previously reached a career-high ranking of World No. 31, the highest ever achieved by an Egyptian woman in the Open Era.

Since mid-June, Sherif has won 18 of her last 20 matches, lifting WTA 125 titles in Brescia and Contrexéville. Her only completed defeat during that span came against Britain's Heather Watson in the qualifying rounds for Wimbledon.
