SAR 7 Billion Investment for Recycling Projects in Eastern Province
Projects cover recycling of construction and demolition waste, organic waste, used oils, tyres, e-waste and batteries.
More than SAR 7 billion in foreign investment has flowed into environmental projects across Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, with recycling and green industries emerging as key areas of focus.
According to Eastern Province Municipality spokesperson Faisal Al Zahrani, partnerships with the National Center for Waste Management and a national recycling company are helping turn environmental priorities into investment opportunities across the region's cities and governorates.
The projects are aimed at increasing the use of municipal, construction and demolition waste by converting it into products with economic value.
The investment ecosystem spans facilities dedicated to recycling construction and demolition debris, organic waste, used oils, end-of-life tyres, electronic waste and spent batteries, alongside factories producing recycled materials for the industrial and construction sectors.
Al Zahrani said several new projects in waste recycling, industrial waste and used oils were awarded in 2025.
Among them is a recycling development covering nearly 1.6 million square metres, described as one of the Kingdom's largest environmental investment projects.
The municipality said it is working to develop an integrated waste management system based on circular economy principles, with the aim of transforming waste into economic resources.
