Saudi Citizens Can Update ID Photos Online via Absher

Saudi citizens can now update the photo linked to their national ID entirely online through the Absher platform. The service launched on September 2nd, 2026 and allows users to change the image registered in the system without visiting a government office.

Previously, changing the photo generally required citizens to go through traditional procedures tied to renewing the national ID or reporting it lost. The new service removes that requirement when the only change needed is the photograph.

The update is completed through Absher’s automated system, with the new image submitted and processed digitally.
