Saudi Government Agencies to Expand Events at Local Resorts
The move aims to boost occupancy rates and tourism-related activity across the Kingdom.
Government entities in Saudi Arabia are preparing to expand the use of local resorts, hotels and tourism facilities for conferences and business events as part of efforts to support domestic destinations and stimulate tourism-related economic activity.
Under the initiative, affiliated organisations in the private and non-profit sectors are expected to organise more conferences, forums, workshops, symposia and other events within the Kingdom.
The move follows a proposal submitted by Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb calling for annual investment forums to be held at tourist resorts, with the aim of strengthening the role of local destinations as hubs for economic and investment events.
Increasing the number of events hosted at resorts and hotels is expected to raise occupancy rates and support tourism activity across different regions.
According to official figures, 362 events were held across the Kingdom during the first quarter of 2026. These included conferences, trade exhibitions, forums, seminars, product showcases and consumer goods exhibitions.
Expanding the use of tourism facilities for business events is also expected to reinforce Saudi Arabia's position in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector, in line with the continued growth of tourism and the objectives of Vision 2030.
